While most World War II footlockers remain unadorned, this example features very nice graphics which were applied to the otherwise plain green trunk during the War. The footlocker is named to Jack Pritchard, which is evidenced by the name that is painted in red and white block letters on the lid. There are 2 sets of dice painted beneath the name, the pair on the left exhibits the number "61" and the pair on the left exhibit the number "65". Between the sets of dice is the letter "P" which is styled in kanji. Perhaps the most attractive graphic on the footlocker is a wonderful WWI style pair of pilot's wings featuring a patriotic shied suspended by feathered wings. The location "Norfolk, VA" is painted below the wings. The graphics, with the numbers featured on the dice and the kanji style "P" could indicate the 65th Bomb Squadron, which was attached to the 43rd Bomb Group and flew B-17s throughout the Pacific during World War II. Lined with paper, the trunk is missing its tray. The key is also missing. Both rubber handles are present and marked "SHWAYDER TRUNCK CO.". CONDITION: The trunk exhibits various blemishes on both the exterior and interior. Paint exhibits cracking, metal components exhibit a chocolate patina. Slight odor when opened. Overall very good.
