This bronze depicts a mounted Russian Cossack outfitted in standard attire controlling his horse with one hand and wielding his shashka in the other. The base resembles foliage and is signed "A. Ober" with Cyrillic foundry mark. Artemi Ober was a Russian artist who was born in Moscow in 1843 and lived until 1917. The bronze measures approximately 14 - 1/2" tall, and 11 - 1/2" long. CONDITION: The bronze exhibits a nice dark patina with a few small blemishes, but no visible cracks. Shashka wobbles when handled. The felt covering underneath the base is separating with about 75% detached. Overall very good.
