Very nice example of a World War II patch blanket. These blankets were typical for a veteran or their family to have made as a reminder of their service both during and after the War. This blanket is constructed of a thin cotton material that resembles a picnic style blanket. Featuring 7 columns and 9 rows, this example contains approximately 63 patches, and measures approximately 88" x 62", with each panel measuring approximately 10" x 12". The best patch on the blanket is arguably the Australian theater made 5th Air Force jacket patch which measures approximately 4 - 1/4". Other highlights include airborne and infantry division patches. Several of the patches are labeled, some labels are sewn, while others are faintly labeled in ink. Most of the patches are sewn to the blanket with the same dark, period thread which does not glow under a blacklight. CONDITION: The blanket exhibits several small holes and stains throughout its construction. However, these blemishes do not detract from the display. Overall good. This blanket would compliment the wall of a man cave or collection room.
