Lot consists of: (A) Revolutionary War period dagger which features a 10" spear point blade. 3 - 1/2" iron crossguard which is crudely squared at its ends and sits above an iron ferrule. The pommel is also iron and features a tang that is peened into a pommel cap. The grip is of turned bone. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a pleasing dark patina with scattered areas of pitting and light edge wear. Iron crossguard and pommel exhibit a dark patina. Bone grip exhibits a pleasing patina with handling wear and scattered hairline cracks. A nice early dagger. (B) Circa last quarter of the 18th century American dagger with Scottish influenced design. The blade is constructed of a file and features a single edge with tapered drop point. Crossguard with ball quillons. The handle is constructed of bone and features a nice engraving of a leaf on 1 side that measures approximately 3". The rounded handle is line engraved from the crossguard to the pommel which is rounded and tiered. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a dark patina with scattered traces of the file pattern. Bone handle exhibits a pleasing patina with handling wear. An interesting early knife.
