Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by DWM for the Imperial German military during World War I. The receiver is stamped "1918" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs present on the right hand side. Toggle bears the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Major metal components are rust blued, while some smaller components are strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching (including the grips), with the exception of the magazine. This example is accompanied by a 1939 dated "O.REICHEL / LENGEFELD" marked brown leather holster containing 1 additional non-matching wood bottom magazine. Side of magazine pouch is hand-scribed "PADDY". CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall to gray and brown patinas, with a few small spots of mild surface oxidation. Strawed components retain traces of their arsenal finish, exhibiting age related discoloration overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting moderate pitting and strong rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing overall, with some scattered nicks to the diamonds, but are otherwise fine. Leather holster is malleable, exhibiting moderate wear overall and crazing on the closure flap strap.
