A copy of "Historical summary of the latest events in the eastern part of Santo Domingo". This copy is significant because it was once part of Napoleon Bonaparte's library and both covers are embossed with the Imperial Coat of Arms of France (1804-1815). The book is signed on the interior by Louis-Joseph-Narcisse Marchand, who was was Napoleon Bonaparte's valet and the nominated liquidator of his succession. The translation reads "Mademoiselle Champion's admiration for the Emperor Napoleon and the good memory she keeps of her memory assure me, in advance, of the pleasure I give her by offering her one of the books from the library of this great man..." and is dated 21 August 1835. Marchand's signature was verified and this book is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity. The book was also in the library of Dr. John K. Lattimer. CONDITION: The book exhibits scattered blemishes from handling and storage wear. Back cover exhibits a burn. Appears to be complete with all pages with legible text.
