Part of the first contract between August 10th, 1918 to May 24th, 1919. Half moon front sight replaced, square notch flat top rear sight. Remington UMC patent and manufacturer rollmark on left side of slide, right with "MODEL OF 1911 / U.S. ARMY CALIBER .45". Barrel with " P / H" oriented to read muzzle up, "R" on underside of barrel, polished bright at hood. Right side of frame with serial number, trigger guard with "23" on web, left side of frame with "EEC" and "E" on left side of trigger guard web. Truncated diamond walnut grips, 2-tone magazine marked "B" on baseplate lip for Barnes and Kolbert. Small parts comprise spurred checkered hammer, thick tab safety, relief mill cut slide release, short smooth hammer (polished), checkered magazine release, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop (replaced). CONDITION: Overall good as reblued and parts exchanged. Distension and cold blue around front sight from installation of new front sight. Some handling marks and dings throughout, legends are somewhat softened by rebluing, particularly visible on frame. Silvering to high edges and operational areas from use. Barrel hood and trigger polished bright; mainspring housing dove grey from use, while front strap still retains the vast majority of the bluing. Slide-to-frame fit is gritty, bore has softened rifling with frosting in grooves.
