Standard configuration Gewehr 98 bolt action rifle manufactured by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military during early 1915. The receiver is stamped with DWM's manufacturer information above "BERLIN/ 1915.", with DWM arsenal proofs on the right, as well as an Imperial German reichsadler on the left. The left side and underside of the butt exhibit Imperial arsenal proofs. The receiver and bolt are properly in-the-white, lightly polished at one time, while remaining components are blued. Stock and handguard are comprised of solid walnut. All numbers match except for the firing pin, which is a later "(Eagle)/ WaA71" waffenamt proofed replacement, as well as the cocking piece. CONDITION: In-the-white components are very good, as polished at one point, exhibiting areas of pitting and dark age-related discoloration. Blued components exhibit areas of pitting and retain a mostly mottled dark gray patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting strong, well-defined rifling throughout. The stock exhibits numerous dings, marks, and impressions from storage and handling, with losses on the right side just ahead of the handguard and on the comb. An honest World War I DWM production Gewehr 98 bolt action rifle.
