Single Action Army Cavalry Model revolver manufactured by Colt in 1883. The barrel is stamped with Colt's single-line address across the top with Colt's 3-line patent information closely followed by a "U.S." stamp on the left side of the frame. David F. Clark's "D.F.C" inspection proof is on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. Bottom of grip bears only the nearly indiscernible "C" character of its inspection proof. Matching numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, cylinder, and butt. Cylinder pin screw appears to be a replacement. Revolver is accompanied by an 1881 pattern brown leather holster marked "LANZ, OWEN & CO./ CHICAGO" above a hand-scribed "CW" on the rear of the 6 rivet belt loop. The closure flap is stamped "GP". CONDITION: Frame, hammer, and grip straps exhibit a mottled dark gray patina, with some scattered spots of mild surface pitting overall. Barrel and cylinder exhibit a pleasing brown patina, with some areas of pitting. Bore exhibits moderate pitting and retains sharp, well-defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit scattered marks from handling and storage, shy to grip straps. Holster exhibits scattered handling marks overall, with the closure flap exhibiting age-related cracking and some very mild crazing.
