Lot consists of: (A) Military Journal during the American Revolutionary War, from 1775 to 1783, describing interesting events and transactions of this period, with numerous Historical facts and anecdotes from the original manuscript to which is added an appendix containing biographical sketches of several General Officers. Boston: Richardson, 1823, first edition. 603 pages contained between 3/4 gilt calf with marble boards, some wear. A clean crisp copy internally with wear to the covers and spine. CONDITION: Good. (B) James Thacher ALS, Plymouth, September 22, 1838, addressed to Reverend Thomas Robbins. Thacher writes a letter in which he offers congratulations to the Reverend on the honors bestowed upon him by their university. The body of the letter is filled with praise and some light gloating and is signed "James Thacher". Yellowed page with slightly trimmed left edge. Ink remains bold with legible writing. CONDITION: Good. Both pieces are former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection and the letter is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity.
