Circa 1852. Classically configured with blued 4" octagon barrel, 2-line New York address, pin front sight, 5-shot percussion cylinder rollmarked with a razor sharp stagecoach holdup scene, and silver plated brass grip straps. Grips are 1-piece smooth ivory. Housed in maroon lined partitioned hardwood case with brass Colts Patent mold and Eley cap tin. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains the vast majority of its bright factory blue with some mild edgewear and other marks. Cylinder has largely faded to gray, traces of blue present in the protected areas. Strong case colors retained on the frame with freckling. Hammer and loading lever also retain traces of case color patterning. Screws and trigger retain significant portions of nitre blue. Most of the silver is retained on the grip straps with some spotting and wear. Grips exhibit a warm honey patina. Very fine strong and bright bore. Crisp mechanics. Matching numbers observed throughout. Case has some impressions and wear but displays very well.
