These helmets were used by both Cromwellian forces and Charles I loyalists during the English Civil War. Blackened iron throughout. Iconic lobster tail neck defense of 4 lames (dated 1594 on bottommost lame, left side), ear guards on leather straps. Visor is bolted to skull, sliding nasal with "M" on heart finial. 1-piece skull. Rolled edges at visor, ear guards, and lobster tail. Cloth liner replaced but compliments well. Finding an example with the ear guards still attached is scarce. CONDITION: Overall very good, with some scattered spots of patination throughout, but solid and free of holes. Nasal slides freely. Leather is solid but crazed in some locations; ear guards have leather loops frozen. A good example of one of the quintessential English helms.
