Very fine DWM Maxim MG-08 manufactured very in 1918 with mismatched feed block, lock, barrel, crosshead, and lubricant caps on spade handles, but with an absolutely wonderful original paint “18” dated sled mount. Muzzle booster is a faithful reproduction. Thumbpieces not present on the water fill cap. Drain valve, and steam port fitting with cork and chain are present and serviceable. Electronic NFA registry indicates “GERMANY” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original blue finish on the receiver box with scattered pinpick pitting, with more brown patina on the fusee cover, and feed block, with much more brown patina on the water jacket, which also has a noticeable dent in the upper right quadrant about 8” forward of the water fill cap. Water fill cap thumbpieces not present. Backplate spade handles are fine with some handling marks and small chips with small cracks and one crack on the left handle which runs the entire length top to bottom. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Both lock face is extremely fine. Gun mechanics are crisp and positive, and action moves smoothly when operated by hand. This is a full-auto-only machine gun. Sled is a really fine specimen of a 1918 model still retaining very fine coverage of original paint, with mechanics smooth and positive. A very fine Maxim on a sled mount in a condition not often encountered. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-023
