Classic drilling configuration with bead front sight on a solid rib, fit with 3 sets of claw mount bases and a pop-up rifle sight. Engraved "Franz Kettner" on right tube and "Koln - Suhl" on left, fit with rib extension with slot for Greener crossbolt, and relieved for sideclips. With German nitro proofs for a gun made in 1939, 16 gauge shotgun barrels, and 9x63 rifle barrel. Carl Zeiss 8x52 Diasta scope with German #1 reticle. Splinter forearm with point pattern checkering, horn forearm tip, with Deely latch and engraved in florals and geometrics. Action wings with German nitro and Crown NRU proofs, serial number, "FRAKE" and discretely import/export marked for Simpson. Scalloped back boxlock action with engraved game scenes on a stage and pheasant on left, and a duck and buck rubbing his antlers on a tree. Greener safety with "S" inlaid in gold, tang mount barrel selector with "S" and "KUGEL" inlaid in gold on either side o the slide. Double triggers, front set, protected by a horn trigger guard with long tang that runs to pistol grip cap. Stock of a straight-grained walnut with sidepanels with horn heart-and-diamond inserts at rear, checkered in two panels of point pattern checkering about the wrist, pistol grip with floral and wrigglework. Pancake cheekpiece, sling swivels mounted to a sweated on boss on rifle barrel and stud insert on toe line. Stock fit with a hard rubber Gamba pad. CONDITION: Barrels retain the majority of their reapplied bluing, with some fine pitting over chambers. Action bright, with some handling marks, engraving crisp. Stock very good with some dryness and handling marks. Scope is somewhat cloudy, and has flaking to blue on ocular bell. Mechanically fine, bores are very good, rifling is strong, with some mild frosting in all three barrels.
