Baltimore, last quarter 18th century. Slightly curved single fuller blade. Silver "S" shaped guard decorated with pinwheel in center on both sides. Chain connects pommel to guards. Spiraling gadrooned fruitwood grip with two stands of twisted silver wire accenting the grooves. Silver Baltimore style eagle head pommel. Complete with its original brown leather scabbard with tooled designs and shaped silver throat mount with script "WJ" on both sides. CONDITION: Blade retains a mottled grey brown patina, Silver light grey and darker in protected areas, some high edge wear. Grip excellent with pleasing patina. Chain and brass front ring are replacements. Scabbard very good with about 4" missing at tip. A very attractive American silver hilt.
