An absolutely stunning German hunting dagger with triple etched blade that depicts hunting scenes on either side of the blade. The obverse features a hunter with a short rifle standing firm on the ricasso and the reverse features a hunting hound mixed with other animals and hunting scenes. Spine is also nicely etched with a foliate vine. Blade remains bright with beautifully intact etchings and freckling at the tip. Brass S-shaped boar head cross guard with large shell languet that depicts a feeding stag. Pommel is also brass with a raised running wolf. Stag grip with brass acorn decorations on right side. A woven portepee is affixed to the grip. Nice patina to guard with handling wear. Generous amounts of gilding remains on the brass components. Complete with leather scabbard that features equally attractive brass mounts. Slight wobble to crossguard and languet. Body with moderate wear. Upper mount with boar head stud on obverse and presentation on reverse that translates to "In Memory of the Arnsberger Hunting and Shooting Club 1896". Drag exhibits an engraved scene of a feeding stag. The mounts exhibit a pleasing patina with traces of gilding. CONDITION: Good.
