Between 1909 and 1911, the United States acquired 15,403 New Service revolvers from Colt, this example circa 1911. Finished in high polish blue with nitre blue small parts. Standard 5 - 1/2" round barrel with 2-line address and blade front sight, stamped on the underside "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with an "RAC" Renaldo Carr inspector marking. Right side of the frame also stamped with "RAC" and "WGP" for Walter Penfield, "U.S. / ARMY MODEL / 1909" on the lanyard loop butt. Grips are plain walnut with "RAC" inspections on the base. CONDITION: Fine. Over 90% bright factory blue, some thinning on the grip straps and other light wear. Small parts retain the majority of their nitre blue. Grips have only light marks. Very good, bright bore. Fine mechanics. A great example.
