Bead front sight on a solid matte rib, with a screwed-on base for a pair of pop-up rifle sights. Barrels with "-SPECIAL-GEWEHR-LAUF- / -STAHL-" and "-FRIED. KRUPP A.G.- / -ESSEN-" with triple interlocking rings. Breeches with triangles of nicely cut acanthus scroll, approximately 1", with beaded borders, rib extension with slot for Greener crossbolt. Underside of barrels with German proofs for 20 gauge and .243 Winchester. Splinter forearm with horn tip, Deely latch release, and point pattern skipline checkering. Action is engraved with oak leaves at the recoil shield and at hinge pin, with finely cut acanthus scroll supporting. Left plate with grouse coming in to land amongst other grouse in a wooden scene, right side with mallards, mixed flying and groundbound. Underside with "ABESSER & MERKEL / SUHL - GERMANY". Double triggers protected by a flat bottom trigger guard with front trigger a set trigger for rifle use. Greener side safety, tang mounted rifle selector with "S" ahead of slide and "K" behind it. Walnut stock with ivory diamonds behind sidepanels, checkered in skipline pattern about the wrist. Sling loops on stud sweated to underside of rifle barrel and on stud at toeline. Vacant German silver oval behind stud at toeline. Modern Olde English Pachmayr pad. CONDITION: Barrels with the majority of their bluing with some silvering to edges and thinning about the steel legends, with scattered handling marks throughout. Forearm very good with some handling marks and has had finish added. Action colors have largely faded, with good color, approximately 10%, retained in recesses and protected areas. Stock very good with some handling marks throughout, possibly a restock, with modern pad. Mechanically fine, although only one rifle sight will pop up, bores are excellent.
