Of all the attractive Maxim machine guns which one might encounter, few would disagree that the Swiss Maxim is one of the very best made and most attractive of all. The quality of machine work incidental to manufacture, fit, and finish is unsurpassed. This fantastic Swiss MG-11 Maxim Machine gun includes an original telescope sight and original Swiss tripod. No sight mounts, unfortunately. This gun will transfer as C&R eligible MG08 Maxim registered serial number 47147. Aside from the sideplate, the rest of this gun has visible matching numbers 8179 with the crosshead “41”. No number observed on the telescopic sight. Electronic NFA registry indicates “MAXIM” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original lustrous blue finish on metal surfaces exclusive of the fusee cover with the slightest loss of finish to the bearing surfaces within the internal mechanism. The fusee cover retains over 95% of its original black enamel painted finish with clear, “WAFFENFABRIK BERN” marking. Checkered wood handles are in superb condition. Optic brass mounting socket has been dented despite it being housed in a pvc pipe protective tube. This can be remedied by a competent gunsmith. Original white adhesive tapeline at 12 o'clock position at top of water jacket. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. Telescopic sight optics are clear. Tripod exhibits over 95% original green paint. Mechanics of gun and tripod are crisp and smooth. This is a Full-Auto only machine gun. The fit and finish of this Maxim machine is absolutely stunning! It must be seen to be truly appreciated for what it is. One of the very best of its kind and will draw the eye on any observer even if placed within an advanced collection with other fine guns. They just don’t get any better than this. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
