Per included factory research the serial number was applied to this rifle November 29, 1892 and it shipped out December 14 of the same year. The blued 26" octagon barrel is chambered in .40-82 and sports a Lyman bead top blade front sight and sporting rear. Receiver is case hardened with an added folding tang mounted aperture sight. Forend is gloss finished checkered walnut. Matching figured walnut butt stock with ebony inlaid checkered pistol grip and case hardened rifle butt plate. Stock channel numbered "597", the matching "597 XX" assembly number and wood grade present on the lower tang. Stocks are not listed in the factory record for this rifle, although they appear original to the gun. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel retains significant portions of fading original blue drifting to brown patina. Receiver displays significant case color patterning with an overall silvery patina. Stocks checkering and finish appears refreshed, only minor handling marks and a repair at the upper tang remaining. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling throughout. Crisp mechanics.
