When sold in 2008 this Colt Single Action Army Revolver was documented by Kopec letter as correct and authentic in every respect. Inspected at the Colt factory by US Government inspectors in 1882. Classic 7 - 1/2" barrel configuration with U.S. marking on left side of frame. D.F.C. inspection markings visible on barrel, frame, cylinder, and bottom of grips near butt. 3 "kill notches" on left grip panel with left grip panel marked with "JEG" cartouche and right grip panel marked with "DFC" cartouche. CONDITION: Excellent, with a vast majority of the original thinning blue finish remaining (conservatively 90-95%) on barrel with silvering to muzzle and scattered light freckling. Ejector rod housing retains approximately half of its original blue finish with outside edge worn to a gray patina. Frame retains bright original case colors. Trigger guard and backstrap are mostly gray patina with original blue visible in protected areas. Grips are very good as lightly cleaned with markings still easily legible and no signs of major distress. Mechanically excellent with all 4 hammer stops. Bore is bright with sharp rifling.
