Extremely nice condition and highly popular M3A1 Grease Gun as manufactured by Ithaca for use by the U.S. military. One original 30-round magazine is included. Typical “Ithaca Gun Co., Inc,” on left side of magazine housing with US serial number. Also visible on the magazine housing is the U.S. Eagle under three stars within-a-square logo indicating post-World War II manufacture. This specimen has the protective ridges around the magazine catch to protect it against inadvertently releasing the magazine when the side of the gun is pressed against a surface. The M3A1 cocks by the firer using their thumb to withdraw the bolt to the rear once the ejection port cover is opened. This was a refinement of the M3 machine gun, which used a lever to cock the bolt. The M3 and M3A1 Grease guns are extremely comfortable and accurate machine guns to shoot, and is a particularly sought after machine gun by collectors and shooters. As a pre-86 dealer sample, this gun can be retained privately when an active FFL/SOT dealer in a "sole proprietor" status relinquishes their license, subject to any State and local restrictions, and upon BATF approval. Electronic NFA registry indicates “ITHACA/ITHACA GUN” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original smooth gray finish with some loss of finish to a pleasing gray patina at the high points of the magazine well. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt is also extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. A great find for the active FFL/SOT dealer who plans to keep a machine gun after they relinquish their license. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
