Circa 1885. An antique London best dangerous big game rifle with dovetailed 26" steel barrels. Barrels built with extractors and a wide rib which is both filed and smooth. Rib with one standing fixed sight at 150 yards and two folding at 200 and 250 yards. Rib with bladed front sight and flip low light sight. Barrels read "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON", "WINNERS OF ALL THE FIELD RIFLE TRIALS. LONDON. 1883". Bottom rib with sling swivel. Bottom mid rib with serial number. Barrel flats with proofs and "25". Gray patina and trace colored hammer action with rebound locks, third fastener, double triggers, elongated top strap, and Jones underlever. Metal with fine scroll throughout. Locks with “HOLLAND & HOLLAND” engraved. Bottom strap with scroll engraving and serial number. Water table with serial number and proofs. Dark smoky walnut stock with pistol grip and horn grip cap, cheekpiece, silver oval, and sling swivel is finished by an old orange Silvers pad. Splinter forend with checkered lever release and scrolls. Weight is 10 lbs 14 oz. CONDITION: Good. Barrels good, in need of reblack. Action is very good. Stock needs clean up / refurbishment and new pad. Forend is good.
