An interesting World War I AEF uniform grouping to an enlisted man who was part of the United States Scouts. The grouping includes a wool uniform that consists of a jacket, trousers, campaign hat, and boots. The rough cut jacket features a First Army artillery patch, red discharge chevron, and 2 bullion wire service chevrons on the right arm while the left arm features corporal chevrons. The collar features "USNA" and cavalry collar discs. There is a separate "USS" (Scouts) collar disc. Jacket is unnamed but trousers are stamped with the laundry number "H-3636". Boots are knee high riding style with faint stampings on interior. The group also comes with a framed newspaper article as well as a M1903 9 pocket eagle snap belt with 1911 holster and saber strap. Belt has cavalry markings on reverse. There is also a 1918 dated magazine pouch with 1 magazine. All uniform pieces exhibit varying degrees of wear with scattered blemishes from service and storage. CONDITION: Good. Pistol is a Remington UMC 1911 with half moon front sight, flat top u-notch rear sight. Left side with 3 line 2 block patent and manufacturer information with intercepting encircled Remington UMC logo. Barrel with polished hood and an inverted "3" on left lug; lug appears to have been fitted to the gun with evidence of polish on lugs. Frame with EEC inspector proof, a faint "(Eagle) / E28" proof and typical US property marking, serial number, and subinspector marks. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thin tab safety, slide release with milled relief cut, checkered magazine release, long smooth trigger, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and truncated diamond checkered walnut grips. Later magazine with "19200- / ASSY 5508694 / MFR.1M291" on baseplate. Accompanied by a Colt Automatic Pistol Caliber .45 Goverment Model foldout information pamphlet. CONDITION: Pistol retans the majority of the reapplied blued finish which has softened edges and legends. Scattered handling marks throughout including some fine areas of oxidation under the blue, and newer freckling, mostly to slide. Some marks silvered. Grips very good with some handling marks.Mechanically fine, bore is dark with visible rifling and frosting throughout. Paper with some discoloration and light edge wear.
