MFG. 1911. Early pistol grip semi auto, blue finish, rear sight removed, standard front sight, plain pistol grip walnut stock , tang mounted peep sight. Gun sports a Stitih mount and a Weaver K2.5 scope. Stock has a 12 7/8" LOP so was either special order or shortened, wears the typical Remington Model 81 metal butt plate, not found on the Model 8 and has an attached leather cheek piece. The forearm is typical Schnabel with a sling swivel. The stock lower tang is curved for a very rarely seen pistol grip Model 8. The barrel sleeve sports the rarest of all markings referred to in the book on Model 8 & 81's by John Henwood as the 9th style in which the word " The" is not present with the last patent date of 1907. Mr Henwood states that only three known rifles have this barrel address: Serial number 18145, 28204 and 29684 making this the fourth known. CONDITION. Fine. Barrel retains at least 90% blue with some thinning and freckling with strong legend. Frame retains about 75% blue with carry wear and some freckling. Wood is very good with about 50% finish loss and some crazing. Bore is BRIGHT.
