54.9cm (approximately 21 - 5/8") nagasa of shinogi zukuri form. Blade is out of polish, but has areas of what look like mokume grain and togari gunome temper. Signed "Mutsu no Kami Daido"; per Sesko's Index, four smiths signed this way, all out of Mino, with cumulative working dates between 1573-1684. Copper habaki with carved designs of falling rain. Shakudo tsuba with a nanako ground and gilt florals. Fuchi and kashirawith basketweave designs, menuki are soft, but the design appears to be mounted samurai. Lacquered tsuka-ito, roiro saya. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with some openings including a fukure, with some spotted pinprick oxidation. Mounts with rub through and some softness.
