JEFFRY & Co Ltd 26 BURY STREET, St JAMES', LONDON 24678", ahead of a three leaf express rear sight with all three leaves folding and marked "1", "2", and "3".Engraved ahead of shank "Made Expressly For / Abercrombie & Fitch Co / New York" with British nitro proofs for a 6.5mm nitro cartridge, but does not indicate case length. Steel buttplate with trap and crosshatch checkering. Two point leather sling on stud at toeline and barrel. CONDITION: Barrel with much of the custom bluing toning to brown throughout, with some handling marks and superficial scratches, some silvering, primarily towards the second half of the barrel. Multiple sets of proofs, including one partially bifurcated at shank. Action commensurate, with heavier toning to rear ring. Stock very good with some minor handling marks, most offensive a collection of impressions under bolt release. Bolt release and floorplate spring replaced. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting. Scope is somewhat hazy, but reticle is crisp.
