Despite a detailed disassembly, no maker mark has been located on this rifle, only a discrete Simpson LTD import mark at the ejection port and German proofs abutting the rear sight. The presence of a Timney trigger suggests that it is a custom rifle. Blade front sight on sweated on base with crosshatchign throughout and slotted for a removable sight hood. Rear sight is a single leaf style express sight, dovetailed into a sweated-on boss. Sling swivel on its own band sweated onto barrel ahead of forearm tip. Left side of barrel as serial number, caliber designation, and German nitro proofs for a gun proofed at Munich in 1991. Top of shank with a diamond of scrollwork. Large ring Mauser action with a French Grey type finish is engraved with scrollwork throughout, and fit with turn-off scope bases, currently mounted with a Swarovski Habicht 1.5-6x42 FFP scope with a German #4 reticle. Bottom metal and trigger guard engraved with scroll. Stock with horn forearm TTIP and fishscale pattern checkering at forearm and pistol grip. Bavaraian cheekpiece, terminates in a black line spacer and black rubber Uncle Mike's recoil pad. Sling stud at toe line with swivel, pistol grip with horn cap. Trigger currently set to approximately 2#. CONDITION: Very good as custom built, with some thinning to blue of sides of barrel, and some handling marks throughout. Receiver is very good with some handling marks, engraving somewhat sloppy. Bolt with silvering from reciprocation. Stock very good with some handling marks, including some impressions, but free of cracks or chips. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling, glass is clear.
