Manufactured in 1863. Mid war production, US contract standard Model 1860. Features a round barrel, rebated cylinder with Naval roll die battle scene, brass trigger guard, iron back strap, cut for shoulder stock, blue and case color finish. Has numerous single letter inspector stamps. All matching numbers except wedge not numbered and walnut grips with no visible cartouche. Barrel has the one line Colt address. Left side of frame stamped Colts Patent. CONDITION: Very good. No original finish remains and metal is a brown patina. Traces of Naval scene. Barrel has some spots of heavy freckling partly obscuring the address. Grips are very good with some shrinkage and scattered impressions. Action indexes correctly. Bore is clean and sharp. Barrel fonts are larger and slightly different style than balance of gun and there are no inspector stamps. It is our opinion that this barrel was added later and re-stamped to match but finish is consistent with a couple of newer replaced screws.
