Regulation 1st U.S. Infantry M1881 officers full dress helmet with gold bullion chest cords, waffles, and proper white yak plume. Includes the original japanned tin carrying case. Helmet is factory original in all respects and all hardware has a frosty gold luster, and gold bullion is bright. This is not a later "put together" from Bannerman's or similar surplus retailer. Lining is all present and solid with all silk and cork in place. One of the nicest examples this cataloguer has seen in many years. CONDITION: Exterior presents as excellent overall and from a smoke free home with no fading or bug damage. There are a few cracks to the cork, but the helmet retains its original shape.
