Exceedingly attractive Colt 1921/28 Navy overstamp Thompson with "diamond logo" Cutts Compensator. No information listed in Gordon Herigstad's serial number listing of serial numbers and histories. No "JHB" inspector proof on right side of receiver, which is common for guns over the 11,000 serial number range. Index mark on barrel perfectly aligned with receiver. This gun has 1928 internal parts. Serial numbers are matching between upper and lower assemblies. Lettering is clear. Tracy Hill's book indicates this gun was in the possession of the Irvington, New Jersey, Police Department in June of 1922. One original first generation 50 round Worchester Pressed Steel New York, New York, 50-round drum is included. Electronic NFA registry indicates “AUTO ORDNANCE” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original deep lustrous blue finish with only a little loss of finish at the stock attachment points. Wood is near excellent with two slight bruises on the right side of the stock, with only the slightest of handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Drum is extremely fine to near excellent matte blue finish with correct nickel rotor. The 1921/28 Navy overstamp guns are in a special league all their own, highest quality fit and finish with appeal to both the commercial and military gun collector. The original finish on this gun is absolutely beautiful and it will certainly attract a discerning collector. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
