The nickel plated SAA .45 is a second generation with standard Colt legends on left side of frame, one line barrel address on top with Colt 45 Peacemaker legend on right side of barrel. Full nickel plate with Colt silver medallion walnut grips and fluted cylinder. This revolver appears to be from the 1964 Presentation Pony Express series. The gold plated Pony Express Centennial was one of 1007 issued in 1961. It sports all gold plating, gold medallion wood grips. Left side of barrel has special inscription 1960-61 with Centennial legend. Standard Colt legend on top and right side of barrel with Colt pony in circle on left side of frame. The .45 has two extra nickel plated cylinders with the founders on one numbered 380WF and the Pony Express trail on the other , not numbered with pony stamped (post 1955) on back. Neither are marked for another caliber. Unsold Frontier Scouts from 1961 were paired with the 1964 SAA and sold as a set with a coin (missing). CONDITION: Both guns are unfired and show as near new with minor handling but the left grip on the Scout has a stress crack. The case still has the protective paper cover which was never removed. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
