Very desirable matching MP-40 machine gun as manufactured by C.G. Haenel (fxo) in 1942, as indicated by markings on the receiver, receiver socket of lower, and top rear of the lower receiver socket. Visible numbers match throughout, including barrel, bolt, front sight hood, barrel nut, lower assembly, pistol grip frame, and swing out shoulder loop. Original leather sling is included as well as one original Nazi marked 32-round magazine. This gun has an original bakelite barrel resting bar with casting number “2205-2”. Electronic NFA registry indicates “GERMANY” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish fine original finish with some areas of light pitting, particularly on the outside left side of the barrel, and on right side of end cap, with somewhat deeper pitting at the right rear portion of the shoulder loop, with otherwise mostly a mottle of brown and gray patina. The original sling remains supple and serviceable. This gun has many Nazi proofs on small parts, such as the trigger, and rear sight. Bore is extremely fine to near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. Magazine is in like condition. Mechanics are crisp. This is a fully automatic only machine gun. Some collectors go for high condition and eye appeal over matching numbers, while others seek an all-matching gun and are unphased by a condition which speaks of use under combat conditions. This gun falls into the latter category. This cataloger loves to see an all-original matching gun where the interior, particularly the bore and operating parts, have been scrupulously maintained while the external parts show the seasoning which comes from use in the field. A real historical piece for the World War II German machine gun collector, not often found with matching parts, and never deactivated. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-09-089.
