An excellent and scarce detailed terrain map of the scene of Custer's defeat that was made shortly after the infamous massacre of the 7th Cavalry. Lt. Maguire was attached to a column that came to Reno's rescue and upon departure of the hostile Indians he proceeded to the scene of the disaster. Drawn by Sergeant Charles Becker under the direction of Maguire, the map details the area with topographical detail. He identifies and locates the graves of 12 fallen soldiers and officers, including Lt. Col. Custer. He also makes note of the Indian Village, the Little Big Horn River, Reno's skirmish line and entrenchments, etc. A remarkable map of a most historic event and an invaluable item to the Sioux Dakota Wars or Battle of the Little Bighorn researcher. CONDITION: Excellent. Archivally framed and ready to hang.
