Circa 1700's or earlier brass guard like the type that would be seen on a jousting lance or similar weapon. Measuring 13" across with a 3" shaft opening, this could possibly be for a ceremonial pole arm as the gauge of the metal is thin on the outer edges. Obverse shows rocker engraving and is most likely Middle Eastern as seen by the nature of the style of engraving. CONDITION: Large split with period multiple repairs that has come undone numerous times and has been repaired with brass rivets peened over. Engraving is well worn but visible. BRM.
