Very likely the most complete and highest condition MG34 kit remaining, this completely matching and all complete kit less the original receiver was hand-picked from all the ones imported by International Military Antiques years ago from all such kits they had access to. This was the one which was all matching, with all accessories, and in near new original condition. The consignor was forward thinking and got the very best, and added a dummy receiver to the transit chest. It contains: Complete MG-34 set of parts less the receiver, Matching numbered gunner's spare tool kit with spider sight, spare bolt, broken case extractor, and barrel mitt, extra bolt numbered to the gun, 1 dummy receiver assembly, 5 matching barrels total, one in the gun and the others in original matching barrel carriers, original wooden transit chest with Portuguese record manual. Upon close examination barrel number 3 appears to be a re-number. The earliest MG34’s in the contract to Portugal were marked with the “Rheinmetall” firm name. All of the Portuguese contract kits observed were “dot” (Waffenwerke Brunn) manufactured. The Transit chests were specially fitted to hold the disassembled guns, spare barrels, barrel carriers, and gunners kits. The exterior of these transit chests were painted green and stenciled with the Portuguese designation “M/944” for the MG34 machine gun, and this chest matches the SN of the gun inside. 'The guns and parts supplied to Portugal such as this one, bear Nazi proofs and are numbered just as their counterparts being delivered to the German military forces were. CONDITION: Just about mint in original chest, with original Portuguese delivery paperwork and firing record book indicating the gun was occasionally fired 30 rounds on one occasion and 60 rounds on another in the 1950's and 1960's. Needing only a receiver to become about the finest and most complete example of the venerable and historic German MG34 “All Purpose” machine gun of World War 2. This is a fantastic opportunity for the discerning and forward thinking investor collector.
