The remarkable rosewood case with upper tray with full Henry Shively label marked manufactured by Henry Shively at The Old Established Manufactory, Removed to 64 South 8th Street Below Chestnut, Philadelphia. Tray contains four medical instruments including two checkered ivory gripped scalpels stamped Shively. Second tray with two ivory gripped medical instruments, third tray with three more tools, and various drills. CONDITION: As found with damage to front of rosewood case where lock was pried off. Missing a number of instruments, however the two Shively ivory mounted scalpels have some original polish and some rust. Altogether one of the most remarkable physicians who ever lived presented this unique German silver bound rosewood portable surgical kit.
