This pistol was manufactured in 1945. The left side of frame has the inspector stamp G.H.D. with proof P. Right side of frame has the Ordinance Wheel and United State Property Model 1911 A1 U.S. Army. Slide is a 1956 to 1970 era slide. Trigger guard has "56" stamped on right side. Has brown plastic grips. Slide stop, hammer, and mainspring housing are serrated. The safety, trigger, and magazine release are checkered. G.H.D. is for Guy Drewry who was the inspector at Colt from 1942 to 1945. It has the VP return proof on left trigger bow. Gun retains approximately 95% of the original arsenal applied finish at time of refurbishing, albeit front grip strap has worn to bare metal. Excellent bore and action. Fairly nice typical rebuilt 1911.
