Barrel is 8 1/2" .44 bore percussionExquisite full octagon single shot percussion target pistol. The engraved lock plate is stamped Cooper features a wind drift, adjustable 2" leaf wind drift, rear sight, with blade front. The tang is engraved with 2 gold lines and has a silver identification plaque. Features finely checkered 1 piece walnut piano finish stock with engraved metal butt as well as a finely engraved trigger guard with a decorative forward tang and a horn forend tip. The barrel retaining escutcheon is engraved as well as the frame screws. Has a strong bore with light abrasions. No proof marks would point to this being manufactured. in America in the mid 19 century.
