Straight single edged tapered blade with wide single fuller. Panels of blued and gilded decoration on both sides. Right side shows a liberty cap, Indian head-dress and floral motifs, other side a patriotic eagle and floral motifs. Left side of ricasso gilded and inscribed "Wooley/Deakon". The gilt brass reverse 'P' hilt has a forward curved quillon and a pillow pommel with capstan. Grip is of fluted ivory. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains about 70-80% of its original polish, blue, and gilt with some areas frosted or faded. Hilt retains about 90-95% original gilt finish and grip is very good. Scabbard shows flaking to surface and mounts retain about 90% original gilt finish. Scabbard shows one minor tear. A very high quality and high condition example of an early pillow pommel saber. DMG.
