1820, UK: This barrel organ was made by Benjamin Flight & Son, which post dates this instrument after Flight and Robson were in partnership in about 1800 and styled themselves as "Organ Builders to the Prince Regent". The only two other known examples of this musical instrument are in Museums in Moscow and in Holland. This instrument is a combination of a Flight & Son small barrel organ with a clock tower added with a famous Vullimay Clock at the top. Benjamin Vulliamy was the son of Justin Vulliamy, a clockmaker of Swiss origin, who moved to London around 1730. Vulliamy clocks were of considerable value and represented the climax of technology at the time. This makes this instrument early, very rare, and likely one-of-a-kind. Through linkage it is believed the clock will activate the organ. A very rare instrument indeed and worthy of restoration and a home in a museum. CONSIDERATIONS: This instrument and clock was a restoration project in process at the time of Henri's passing. There are two barrels, the pipes are present and the clock mech, weight, and chains are included. A fantastic project and opportunity for someone to have a piece of mechanical music history.
CORRECTION: Includes 3 barrels.
