Very pretty 23" French child from late 1880's, incised on back of head "Depose E 10 J" with recognizable period face featuring lovely large blue glass paperweight eyes, finely painted lashes and multi stroke blond eyebrows, closed mouth with slight space between lips, highlighted nostrils, pierced earlobes on separately applies ears with head mounted to the original body by a coil spring. The fully articulated wood and composition body with straight wrists is stamped on the back of the torso in blue "Depose Jumeau Medaille D'or". Body finish is original with exception of some touch up on lower arms and hands. The doll is well costumed in a blue and gold silk dress with braid ribbon trim, blue silk ribbons, matching hat, old underwear, and the original brown leather shoes impressed on the soles "10 Bebe Jumeau Depose". The blond mohair wig is antique and it covers a cardboard pate. CORRECTION: A faint squiggly short line from dolls upper left outside eye socket visible under magnification.
