C. 1840–1870. Walking cane featuring a carved ivory pommel handle with geometric and symbolic mother-of-pearl and silver inlay, including star, crescent moon, heart, and diamond motifs set within a dark hardwood band. The handle is mounted to a decorative silver collar and fitted to a dark hardwood shaft, likely ebony or stained fruitwood. The top is engraved “John Hartt 1840,” suggesting a presentation or commemorative example from the early Victorian period. Very good overall with natural age lines and warm patina to ivory. Minor surface wear consistent with age. Inlay appears largely intact. Collar shows light surface wear. Shaft appears straight and structurally sound. Length: 35".

Condition: (Excellent).
