Lot consists of: (A) British 1857 Pattern Royal Engineers sword. Blade is decorated with well defined floral patterns. Left side of blade with VR cypher and Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall London address on ricasso. Spine of blade marked with serial number "11754". Right side of blade with Winged Thunderbolt and a small insert with a "HCW" (?) initials in it. Guard is pierced with acanthus leaves, grip is fishskin with triple brass wire wrap. CONDITION: Very good. Blade has been polished over pitting, most of which is forward of the decoration. Grip is very good, complete, and appears untouched. Brass has taken on a lovely reddish look with no serious pitting. Scabbard is complete with numerous door pinches at drag and near locket, some of which are deep but do not interfere with blade. (B) 26th Cameronian Scottish Rifles sword. Blade is decorated on right side with floral patterns and battle honors for Egypt, Corunna, China, and Abyssinia. Left side with more floral designs and a VR cypher. Marked on left side of ricasso for manufacture by Meyer and Mortimer of Conduit Street, London. Guard is pierced with a bugle design. Grip is fishskin with triple braided brass wire. CONDITION: Good. Blade is polished over some very minor staining and pitting and was likely protected by the scabbard. Guard has some significant oxidation and old patina but is complete. Scabbard has some patination with some cracking of the finish with some losses to the drag. (C) French 1831 Artillery sword of standard configuration. Quillions are proofed. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is nice, with some heavy oxidation at the forte. Brass has taken on a reddish hue. Scabbard is complete but quite tender with crazing to the leather. Stitching has split. A lovely collection of above average examples of these swords. EW
