This very sword was in the possession of Admiral Komura when he was aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. This sword was surrendered by Komura to Admiral Halsey and was given to Henry R. Bucon, Yeoman First Class, who was a member of Admiral Halsey's Flag Allowance staff. Sword was given to Yeoman Bucon by Lieutenant Commander W.J. Kitchell, Admiral Halsey's Flag Lieutenant. Sword itself sports a 25" blade and one piece water tempered blade in fine condition. Japanese Naval Officer's mounts with knot and same saya as pictured in the accompanying documentation from Yeoman Bucon including his discharge, his separation from Naval service, photographs of the USS Missouri and surrender daggers and swords, letter from Halsey, and menu for the victory dinner, signed by Halsey and all important Naval personnel during the Japanese surrender. One of the most interesting and historic World War II Japanese swords extant. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
