Produced by the Mercury Division of the Ford Motor Car Company, the Montclair was manufactured from 1955 to 1957. For 1955 and 1956, Montclair’s featured Mercury’s best appointments, including extra chrome and two tone body colors. In 1956 Ford featured new safety features on the Montclair that included deep-dish steering wheel, safety door locks, breakaway rear view mirror and optional seat belts and padded dash.Included in the Montclair lineup was the Sun Valley model, which featured a Plexiglass “bubble” over the front half of the roof section and stainless steel surround. Total production was limited to just 1787 units as the glass top tended to heat the passenger area of the cabin during warm and sunny weather. Optional air conditioning was added late in production as well as a sunshade in order to reduce cabin heat.Offered is perhaps the finest Montclair Sun Valley in existence today. An “over the top” frame-off, nut and bolt restoration of the highest standard was done to this California classic. Contributing to the rarity of this Sun Valley, is the factory option of air conditioning which addressed the cabin heat issue generated by the Plexiglass top.Finished in mirror like black exterior with factory matching two-tone cloth interior, the attention to originality and cosmetic detail is overwhelming. Adding to the specialness of the breathtaking build, is the addition of a Ford 351 Cleveland 285 hp engine and C6 automatic transmission. Ordinarily the purists would frown on such a modification, but the installation and meticulous care in maintaining original features, makes the installation appear as a factory option. With its impeccable cosmetic appearance and functional and powerful drivetrain, the Montclair Sun Valley has no rival.• Extremely rare model• Stunning nut and bolt restoration• Rare Factory Air Conditioning• Ford 351 Cleveland 285 hp engine• C6 Automatic transmission
