Introduced in the 1959-60 model years in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero, the first production run lasted just two years but resumed in 1964 through 1977 based on the new Chevelle platform. GMC’s badged El Camino version, the Sprint, was introduced for the 1971 model year. The fifth generation El Camino (1978-1987) was produced in four trim levels, shared Malibu chassis and Buick V6 engines. The 305 cu in optional small block engine was rated at 165 hp. In 1983, the 4.4 liter V8 was dropped in favor of the 5.0 liter. The standard engine in 1986 was Chevy’s 3.8 liter V6 with 110 hp.Offered is a beautiful original 1986 Chevy El Camino.
