Produced in 1975 and 1976 model years, the Cosworth Vega was a limited production version of the Vega but with significantly more performance. A total of just 3,508 were manufactured over the two years of production.Racing engine manufacturer, Cosworth Engineering of England, produced championship motors to the top Formula One and Sports Car Prototype teams in the 1960’s through 1980’s. The Z09 Cosworth is a detuned version of the 2-liter engine that powered the Lemans prototypes. Bore, stroke and valve sizes were the same but it lacked the racing engine’s dry sump oil system. With lower compression, different valve timing and Bendix electronic fuel injection, the Cosworth Vega motor still produced 260 hp.All 1975 Cosworth Vegas were finished in black lacquer with gold letters and pin striping. The Cosworth included GT springs, shocks, roll bars and specially designed and British made 6 inch gold-painted wheels. A HD radiator completed the package. The Cosworth was also the first Chevrolet passenger car with electronic fuel injection. Air conditioning, power steering and brakes were not available.A 1976 facelift included wider grill, tri-color tail lamps and rust prevention. A Borg-Warner five-speed transmission was optional. Eight different colors were made available in 1976. Total production ended in July 1976 with less than 2% of all Vegas produced during that period being Cosworths.Offered is a beautiful, one owner family from new, 1975 Cosworth Vega. Originally delivered to Messick Chevrolet in Ephrata, PA, the Cosworth was the owner’s daughter’s car and remained in the Messick family until now. It has been entered and won many local classic auto shows including the Super Chevy event. With just 37,000 miles from new, this may well be the finest documented from new, Cosworth Vega anywhere. This is a great chance to own the “Anglo-American” classic that is being offered for the very first time in 40 years.• 1 Family Owned Since New• All Original Except for One Repaint•Originally Delivered to Messick Chevrolet, Ephrata PA• Extremely Rare• Cosworth Race Engine
