.44 caliber with an 8" barrel. This revolver is a standard military issue revolver popular during the Civil War. It is a six shot, single action, .44 caliber percussion with an 8” octagon barrel. The excellent original walnut grips have a perfect cartouche on left side. Left side frame and cylinder have the inspector stamp (W and R). The barrel has inspector stamp “D”. With “R” inspector stamp on wedge as well. Right side of the barrel is stamped “H”. Trigger guard is stamped “D”, as are the bottom of both grip panels. All metal is basically a gun metal grey-brown smooth patina. Original nipples. Indexes fine but hammer has trouble catching final notch. Original front sight. Near mint bore. Very clean example.
