37" barrel in .41 bore-percussion. Offered is a highly ornate deluxe custom half stock percussion full octagon barrel sporting rifle manufactured by P. Waggoner in Schenectady, New York, 1836 to 1850. All metal is finished in the white. The breach of the barrel and tang are expertly engraved. Has a custom rear sporting sight with a dovetailed small front sight. Has a three plated thimbles attached to the barrel rib for rod. Lock is engraved and both the lock and barrel are maker stamped. The beautiful half stock striped finish stock is done in a rich oil with a finely checkered wrist and forend. The right side has a very ornate patchbox with the engraving of the American eagle, flags, and cannons. All of the screw heads are engraved. Left side of stock on cheek piece has an eagle. Wrist is surrounded by small silver hearts. Trigger guard, buttplate, and toeplate are beautifully engraved. Stock is in excellent condition with no cracks, just a minor chip at lock. An absolutely stunning early half stock sporting rifle.
